Your skin already knows how to repair itself — microneedling just gives it a reason to. Controlled micro-injuries trigger your body's natural collagen and elastin production, resurfacing texture, scars, and fine lines from the inside out. At Rituel Med Spa in Phoenix, microneedling is performed by licensed medical providers using medical-grade devices for results you can actually see.
Microneedling (also called collagen induction therapy) is one of the most versatile skin treatments available. It addresses:
Unlike laser resurfacing, microneedling doesn't target pigment — making it safe and effective for all skin tones, including darker and melanin-rich skin. This is one of the key advantages over ablative lasers, which carry a risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation in skin of color.
Microneedling at Rituel Med Spa starts at $250 per session. PRP (platelet-rich plasma) add-on is available to accelerate healing and enhance results. Series pricing available — most clients see optimal results with a package of 3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart.
Your treatment begins with a thorough cleanse and application of topical numbing cream (30 minutes to take effect). The microneedling procedure itself takes about 20–30 minutes depending on treatment area. Your provider adjusts needle depth based on the concern — deeper for acne scars, shallower for fine lines and general rejuvenation.
Immediately after, your skin will look red and feel warm — similar to a mild sunburn. This is normal and means the treatment is working. We apply a calming serum and SPF before you leave.
Downtime is minimal: redness for 24–48 hours, with most clients returning to normal activities the next day. For the first 48 hours, avoid sun exposure, makeup, retinol, and active skincare ingredients. Use a gentle cleanser and hydrating moisturizer only. SPF 30+ is mandatory for the first 2 weeks. Your skin will feel smoother and more luminous within 5–7 days, with collagen remodeling continuing for up to 6 months.
Different tools for different goals. Microneedling is better for scarring, deep texture concerns, and long-term collagen building. Chemical peels are better for surface-level pigmentation, dullness, and quick brightening. We often recommend both in a comprehensive skincare plan — peels for maintenance between microneedling sessions.
Does microneedling hurt? With numbing cream, it's very tolerable. Most clients describe it as a 3/10 on the pain scale — pressure and warmth rather than sharp pain.
How many sessions do I need? A series of 3 sessions, spaced 4–6 weeks apart, gives the best results. Some clients see significant improvement after just one session, but collagen remodeling compounds with each treatment.
Can I do this with darker skin? Yes! Microneedling is one of the safest resurfacing options for melanin-rich skin. Unlike lasers, microneedling doesn't target pigment — making it safe and effective for all skin tones.
What's the downtime? Redness for 24–48 hours, similar to a mild sunburn. Most clients are back to normal activities the next day. Avoid sun, makeup, and active skincare ingredients for the first few days.
Microneedling vs. chemical peel — which is better? Different tools for different goals. Microneedling is better for scarring, deep texture, and collagen building. Peels are better for surface-level pigmentation and dullness. We often recommend both.
